DW – Two works by Dutch post-Impressionist Vincent Van Gogh have been returned to the Netherlands after they were grabbed in a mafia heist 14 years ago. The two paintings were unveiled on Tuesday at the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam. “They are back,” said museum director Axel Rüger, “I never thought I’d be able to say those words.” The paintings, 1882’s “View of the Sea at Scheveningen” and 1884’s “Congregation Leave the Reformed Church in Nuenen” are worth about 50 million euros ($53.67 million). – read more
